My physician told me that my condition was bad and would require a colostomy. They needed to remove my colon and attach a bag for my bowel elimination for the rest of my life. I was in constant pain and unable to function at my job. Then I went to a talk presented by the Doctors' Speakers Bureau about digestive disorders. The speaker spoke about how health and function were related. He presented information to the group about acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, "natural alternatives" to drugs and surgeries. I admit that I was more than a bit hesitant. I approached Dr. Rapkin after the talk and told him about my problem. He offered me the opportunity to come in for a complimentary consultation and treatment to let me experience the needles for myself. I will tell you that it was one of the most surprising and pleasurable experiences of my life. He told me he would accept me as a patient and did not think I would need surgery if I followed his program, which included acupuncture treatments and taking Chinese herbal formulas.

That was over one year ago. I have all my own organs, functioning pretty well, I might add. I occasionally have mild symptoms that act up under stress. I still take the herbal formulas and continue with the acupuncture sessions weekly. There was a reason I went to the talk that night. I'm sure there was a guiding light over me. I have referred family and friends to the Kindo Integrated Health Center to try acupuncture for their health concerns. The ones that have tried acupuncture are no longer suffering. The ones who haven't have gotten worse. I am grateful that there is an alternative to help me.

I had not had a normal period for years. When I did have a period, it was extremely painful. I was not able to function well at work and my family stayed away from me a few days per month. I was on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications. I also began to take sleeping pills. After the first week of acupuncture, I slept like a baby for the first time in a long time. Six weeks later I no longer required my other medications. For the last four months my periods have been normal. I have never experienced anything like it; I don't even know that they are coming. No cramping and no pain! I do continue my acupuncture treatments and I always will. I couldn't dream for more than this. I have had sets of cortisone shots, pain pills, and tried a spinal ablation (a deadening of the nerves which cause all the pain). None of these were very effective. The decision was surgery, which scared me. A fried told me of Dr. Rapkin who cured him of severe migraine headaches. I had a conference with Dr. Rapkin, and his quiet confidence impressed me.

The treatments are subtle, and suddenly you realize you are walking further than before and with less pain…my diabetic numbers are much better…and my kidneys are improving, apparently. I will certainly continue…Thank you, Dr. Rapkin!!!

I saw a variety of physicians for my pain and was always prescribed prescription drugs like anti-inflammatory medications, but not a permanent fix. I also tried numerous over-the-counter remedies such as pain relieving creams, heat patches, and braces, with no substantial benefit.

I have been following the dietary advice and am in the process of gently loosing weight, my digestion is improved and my diabetic numbers are lowering. I am actually taking less medication for diabetes than when I started.

My back pain is improving every week and my arthritic hip (which I hadn’t been able to sleep on for two years) is calming so that I can lie on that side again without the sharp pain that I had daily. In one session I arrived with a nasty headache. When I mentioned the headache, he said to me, “Take off your sock”…… At the end of the session I left without a headache and without sinus congestion as well.

My sleep pattern has changed also, from waking up 3 to 5 times a night to waking up once or twice. I sleep deeper and more restfully than I have in several years and all of this because of acupuncture. I am still in treatment and enjoying the many improvements already in transition.
